LAX to Medford, Or
12:10 am-Mike and Brionna finally made it after 2 hours of delayed airport action. We greeted them at the gate with California offerings of In & Out burger and Santa Barbara cupcakes from Crushcakes (yours are better Jessica). It was good to see them even though it has only been a few weeks away from Richmond. We drove back to Santa Barbara for the night and got a few hours of sleep before we headed up the coast. Gilroy, Ca was our first destination as we headed to their heralded Garlic fest. The garlic fest is defiantly something you should check out if you are a lover of all things garlic, they even have garlic ice cream which Nikki was a huge fan. You could get anything garlic you ever wanted, but we ended up all sharing some garlic fries, pesto pasta (the best thing in my opinion), marinated mushrooms, pepper steak, and sautéed calamari. Once our garlic appetite was satiated and our breath very fragrant, we hopped back on the road. Heading through the valley, we passed by acres of farmland full of orange, lemon, and cherry groves. After a few hours of driving, we pulled into Williams, Ca a small town in the middle of nowhere, but home to some of the best Mexican food we have ever tasted. We also took advantage of the perfect light setting, and took our cover shot for our band. 5 hours and 3 hotels later we ended up getting a few hours rest at the Medford Inn.

You showed up--finally! I thought the coyotes got you. I guess you were all busy and pre-occupied with your favorite past time-- eating at all those fancy food-fests. I think both of you missed your true "calling".
ReplyDeleteMake sure you offer Brionna and Mike the best hospitality in town. Have you convinced them yet in moving out west?
Not much excitement out here. The Leone family of three is now a "deux" and Daddy's birthday bash was "boring" due to the absence of a " BIG knife-wielding" Nikki cutting the cake.
I have decide to come out of hibernation from nursing and have been busy lately looking into the Job listings once again, so as to find a way to fund my planned excursions to California. Don't worry Nik, I'll only stay a few weeks at a time,( not months ), and you--- Cappy, have to pitch a tent on the patio so Nikki, Napoleon and I will have enough room in that tight studio space.
I sure hope Napoleon is happy at the kennel and is still "snorting" his way around. I miss that little guy SO MUCH! (and you too)
Love--Mommy
